Rooted in Salisbury. Guided by long-term stewardship.
For more than a century, Leehurst Swan School has been part of the Salisbury community. Throughout that time, the school has remained guided by a simple principle: decisions should be made in the long-term interests of children, families and the future of the school itself.
Leehurst Swan is an independent charitable school with its own governing body and its own site. The school owns and manages its campus on Campbell Road, providing continuity and stability for future generations, and the freedom to shape its future with confidence.
Like many independent schools across the UK, the education sector continues to evolve. Some schools are choosing to join larger groups or organisations in response to changing financial and operational pressures. Leehurst Swan remains proudly independent.
That independence allows the school to make decisions locally, with a clear focus on the needs of its own pupils and families. It also enables the school to preserve the character and community that parents value: a through-school environment, small classes, strong pastoral care and a genuinely personal approach to education.
The school is overseen by a Board of Governors drawn from a range of professional backgrounds, including education, finance, safeguarding, law and business. Governors work closely with the Head and senior leadership team to support the strategic direction of the school, ensure sound financial stewardship and maintain high standards of governance and safeguarding.
As a registered charity, the school operates for educational purpose rather than private profit. Income is reinvested into the school, its facilities, staff and pupil experience.
Leehurst Swan also benefits from being part of the wider independent school community through professional memberships and partnerships, while retaining full control over its own identity, leadership and future direction.
Above all, the school’s focus remains unchanged: providing a warm, ambitious and supportive education in which children are known as individuals and encouraged to flourish.
