The children in Year 1 have been learning about the 1666 Great Fire of London and this afternoon recreated the fire on Pudding Lane.
We even had a very slight breeze which sent the flames along the children’s row of houses, taking one down at a time.
They found it fascinating and it really cemented their understanding of how the fire managed to spread and what could have been done to stop it sooner.
On Tuesday, we hosted an informal Christmas Carol concert.
Parents, grandparents, friends and local care homes gathered to enjoy some mince pies and a cup of tea whilst being serenaded by our Prep Choir.
Well done to all our Pupils who took part and thank you to everyone that attended!
Year 7 & 8 enjoyed a blustery day at Kew Gardens on Monday. In the Palm House, they learnt about the value of tropical rainforests and why they need protecting.
In the Princess of Wales Conservatory pupils saw how plants adapt to the hot, dry conditions of the desert and the adaptions plants make to the climate of rainforests. The pupils especially enjoyed sketching their favourite plants.
The magic of Kew was brought alive by the Christmas lights which were just starting to come on as they headed back to school in the twilight. It was a super day out!
PC CRANHAM and PCSO HEATH (an ex-pupil of Leehurst Swan) came to talk to Year 9, 10 and 11 in assembly.
They educated our pupils on the topics of Sexting and Healthy Relationships which gave them awareness of the Laws around these topics. It encouraged young people to notice warning signs in their personal relationships as well as their peers’. The aim was to make them feel confident enough to speak up should anyone they know be affected.
We hope they enjoyed, reflected and took away the main points of the talk and we thank the officers from Salisbury Police for offering to take time out of their busy schedules to visit us
Today, we celebrated the bounty of nature in our Harvest Festival Assembly!
It was a wonderful morning where the collection of food that will be donated to the Trussell Trust was displayed.
Our Year 6 children shared their knowledge of Harvest around the world with the rest of the school. Mrs Oldham then spoke about Harvest in the UK and the very important work the Trussell Trust carries out. We also heard the Prep Choir sing, which was their first performance of the academic year.
What a wonderful way to express our thanks and gratitude to everyone that helps Harvest happen every year.
Today, Mrs Orchard held a Macmillan Coffee Morning for our staff.
It was lovely to have the whole team together at break time, and we raised a grand total of £120!
The Salisbury Chamber of Commerce (in partnership with the Salisbury Journal and Salisbury BID) are running a competition. Pupils have been invited to showcase what they think Salisbury may look like in 2035, whilst making sure their plan is set out clearly with the steps they would take along the way.
Some amazing ideas were thought of during today’s lunchtime club run by Mr Willan, including a hovering train just to get Leehurst Swan pupils to school, and a very high tech play park!
Our U16’s played a great match against Moyles Court this week with a convincing 17-6 win!
Some great netball was played in both the attacking and defensive ends with some hard training paying off!
A particular well done to Jemima who was awarded attacking player of the match, and Tiana who was awarded defensive player of the match
Year 7 recently spent 3 days away at Osmington Bay having an amazing time on their residential PGL.
This trip encouraged team building and is a great way to establish firm friendships at the start of their Senior School journeyl.
They took part in many activities such as climbing and orienteering and have come back with some fantastic stories.
