Leehurst Swan School is delighted to share the positive findings of our recent ISI inspection. The report confirms our commitment to providing a ‘well-rounded education that nurtures both the academic and personal development of its pupils.’ We are proud to be recognised for the following strengths:

  1. Strong Academic and Creative Curriculum
  • Our ‘well-planned and resourced curriculum’ ensures pupils excel in core subjects, including English, mathematics, and science, as well as in creative areas such as art, music, and drama.
  • The report commends our Early Years provision as ‘high standard, with knowledgeable staff providing a stimulating environment in which children become confident learners.’
  1. Supportive and Inclusive Community
  • Leehurst Swan fosters a ‘supportive atmosphere’ where ‘pupils have positive relationships with staff’ and there is a ‘culture of respect within the school.’
  • Our students show a ‘clear appreciation of equality and diversity’ and demonstrate respect and kindness toward others.
  1. High-Quality SEND Support
  • The school ‘ensures that the needs of all groups of pupils, including those who have special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), are met’ through targeted initiatives and effective monitoring by our dedicated leadership team.

ISI Regulatory Compliance Inspection March 2020

We are very proud to report that Leehurst Swan was found compliant in all components of the inspection, which included an examination of the following areas of the school:

  • Quality of education provided
  • Spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of pupils
  • Welfare, health and safety of pupils
  • Suitability of staff, supply staff and proprietors
  • Premises of and accommodation at school
  • Provision of information
  • Manner in which complaints are handled
  • Quality of leadership in and management of school

Highlights of the inspection report included:

GCSE performances (for years 2017-2019) were reported to be ‘above the national average for maintained schools’. Inspectors stated that our ‘teaching enables pupils to make good progress, encompasses effective behaviour management and is supported by suitable resources’.

The report also commented that at Leehurst Swan’s principles and values are actively promoted which facilitate the personal development of pupils as responsible, tolerant, law-abiding citizens’. The new leadership and management of the School were also commended for ‘fulfilling their responsibilities effectively so that other standards are consistently met as they promote the well-being of their pupils.
