Science

All Leehurst Swan pupils have the opportunity to study separate GCSEs in Biology, Chemistry and Physics.  The course starts in the September of Year 9 and is completed at the end of Year 11.

Science lessons are taught in three well equipped laboratories by subject specialists, with experimental work central to our teaching.

There is an opportunity for some pupils to be entered for the Combined Science course giving two GCSE grades; selection for this takes place at the start of Year 11.  This ensures the best possible grade outcomes for individual pupils.

GCSE study in Biology, Chemistry and Physics is regarded as an excellent basis for further study in the sciences at `A` level, at university and for high-demand subjects such as medicine, veterinary science, engineering and forensic science.
