Independent Co-Educational Day School
Last week, a group of 32 students took a culturally-rich, linguistically-inspiring and exciting trip to Normandy.
Following a ferry trip to France, which involved numerous games of ping pong, pupils made their way to their centre, Le Château de Tertre, for some evening activities. The following morning the group visited the local town of Mayenne for a town trail and to sample the delights of a French market. Later in the day they visited a farm which tied in with topic work in French lessons. In the afternoon pupils tried their hand at abseiling and completed a challenging blindfold sensory trail.
The chateau of William the Conqueror is a tremendously imposing medieval castle which still dominates the town of Falaise. It is the birthplace of the Norman King and was a fascinating trip.
Pupils sampled French food including fresh bread and brioche during their visit to the boulangerie and many even tried snails!
On the last day, we drove along the coastline of the Normandy beaches. It was very moving to see the bunting and flags from the 75th anniversary commemoration of the D-Day landings.
Thank you to Mrs Whetstone, Mrs Bateman, Mr Gamble and Mrs Wilson for organising a fun, busy and educational trip.
