Leehurst Swan 102 - 2 (13 Overs)
The U11 team set out to continue its winning run. This match was against Appleford for a 20 over '5 x Pairs' cricket match. The weather was glorious with not a cloud in the sky.
Sam the captain won the toss and elected to field. Jack K opened the bowling and, with the first ball, bowled the opening batsman. Jack finished the over with a 'wicket maiden'
Justin and Jack bowled the first 4 overs and had the opposition in trouble. Jack took 4 wickets for 1 run. 15 for 4.
The opposition never got going and lost wickets regularly. At the 10 over mark the opposition were 46 for 6.
Leehurst Swan's bowling was good, and the fielding excellent. Jack P, Josh, Finn and Archie Wr all chased the ball to stop any chance of the ball getting to the boundary. In fact the opposition only got 6 fours in their innings.
Archie Wi was again having a very good match as wicket keeper, and Hari and Harrison kept close fielding to the batsman to stop any quick singles.
With the final few overs to play, Jack K came back into the bowling attack and ripped into the 'tail-enders' and took two more wicket for 5 runs. Finishing with figures of 6 wickets for 6 runs. The following players took a wicket each - Sam, Finn, Harrison, Josh, and Jack P.
Opposition's final score was 89 - 11 off 20 overs.
After the break Leehurst Swan started their chase, and did well. Jack K and Justin put down a good platform and after the first four overs the score was 26 for 2, with Jack's score including a mighty six. Hari and Harrison came in and continued the fun-fest by adding another 31 runs, working really well, with good calling and punishing the wides and no balls. Finn and Captain Sam entered the fray and added a mighty 37 runs to the total, both batsmen hitting many boundaries. Jack P and Josh came in and only needed 1 over and score 5 runs.
This brought the score to 102 for 2, after only 13 overs. A fine win for Leehurst Swan!
A big thank you again to the travelling supporting parents.
