The Arts
Leehurst Swan is the best Independent School in England for girls to study GCSE photography! It is official as we were presented with a certificate from the Good Schools Guide to confirm it.
(2007, 2009)
Art, including ceramics, is taught with a passion by specialist teachers. Pupils are presented with opportunities to work with a wide range of two and three dimensional media using a variety of materials. At all stages, pupils are encouraged to develop their own imaginative and personal response to ideas and techniques.
Photography is offered as a separate GCSE using the ICT suite to produce high quality digital images and the dark room for traditional black and white prints.
In Design and Technology pupils are taught in our well-equipped workshop and use a wide range of resistant materials, including card, wood, plastics and electronics. They choose their own projects then design and construct the product themselves.
Professional tuition on a variety of musical instruments is available. Everyone has plenty of opportunities to perform and can join the school choirs, orchestra or ensembles.
Drama flourishes at Leehurst Swan ranging from small productions to full-scale musicals. The emphasis is on participation, teamwork and fun! Regular workshops and theatre visits take place in all years and there are lively extra-curricular drama clubs.
