It was a lovely afternoon and wonderful to see so many old faces.

Pupils visited the new exhibition called Surviving the Stone Age.They enjoyed taking part in the many activities. In the afternoon they were shown how to make a clay beaker and after putting on their aprons they had a go at making their own clay pot.

They had great fun and learned a lot about this period of history thanks to Ruth Butler the Education Officer at the museum.

Year 5 pupils enjoyed a stimulating and informative visit to King John’s House, Romsey. Pupils studied old English writing and found the spelling idiosyncratic, they enjoyed lino printing medieval scenes and explored some of the games which were available to Tudor children. Pupils had an exciting time dressing up and enacting a Tudor scene involving a local landlord and his well off tenant. The pupils were changed around so all were able to participate in the numerous activities. Pupils learnt much from their various activities and were appreciative of the volunteers who shared so much with them.

Key Stage 1 performed their Christmas play ‘The Gigantic Star to a large audience of parents, grandparents and friends. The story centred on a Star who felt he was different and wanted to be just like everyone else. The children had made their own costumes with a large amount of flitter and certainly sparkeled in the lights! They entertained their audience with songs, recorders and percussion instruments. Well done to all the children and to Mr Thomas for preparing them for such a successful play.

Pre-Prep and Prep pupils waited with bated breath to visit Santa’s Grotto again this year. Their eyes shining with wonder and excitement, they were delighted by the prettiest, most sparkling grotto yet! Santa sat in his rocking chair by the fireside and generously handed out presents and sweets. The children were also entertained by members of 9Y, who were dressed as elves, Christmas trees, a reindeer, a Christmas pudding and even a cracker! Christmas music was provided by Henry Birt on clarinet, Katie Baxter-Brown and Sarah Kuszynski on flute and George Hounslow on trumpet. Santa enjoyed his visit very much and asked me to pass on his thanks to FOLS, who donated money to decorate the Grotto.
