Leehurst Swan Ski Trip – Courmayeur, Italy

Forty of  Yr 9 and 10 pupils from Leehurst Swan enjoyed a fabulous weeks skiing at the Italian resort of Courmayeur.

The snow was in abundance and was ideal for skiing as well as snowballing! So inspite of missing the snow back home they had plenty of their own to have fun with in between ski lessons.

All pupils were exceptionally well behaved and staff and pupils had a great time.

Leehurst Swan tops academic league tables

The success of the former Year 11 pupils in GCSE examinations has been acknowledged in the latest School League tables, published in the Times Newspaper.  The 100% achievement in Science, Mathematics and English giving all pupils at least 5 A* – C grades in their GCSE’s last summer, places Leehurst Swan at the top of the league tables for Wiltshire. I am delighted with the success of those pupils, they achieved exceptional standards in core academic subjects. However, we offer a broad and balanced education and I am equally pleased with the achievements in Music, Art, Sport and Drama.  For example, the school was recently awarded The Best Independent School in England for GCSE Photography for girls. The academic success of the pupils in GCSE examinations is another facet of the outstanding achievements of Leehurst Swan pupils. To see more you may wish to go online http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/education/a_level_gcse_results/dcsf/ and see for yourself how the tables work.

Year 3 visit Salisbury Museum

Year 3 visited Salisbury Museum to investigate the Out of Egypt Exhibition. The pupils were taught how to handle 4,000 year old artifacts wearing white gloves. They dressed as Egyptians and Archaeologists, drew pictures of the objects and took part in various challenges. In the afternoon they visited the Stonehenge Gallery and  learnt how the Amesbury Archer was discovered.
