Leehurst Swan Boys win football tournament

Year 5/6 pupils played in their very first 7 a side tournament for 2008/2009. All settled in and played very well.  As each game passed so they improved their passing, tackling and moving on and off the ball.  Scoring was very difficult for all teams with the mini-sized goals.  Teams involved were Shaftesbury Primary, Fontmell Primary, Clayesmore Juniors FC and Clayesmore Prep ‘A’ and ‘B’ teams.

We improved and scored in every match. Having beaten Clayesmore ‘A’ in the heats 2:0, we then met them again in the final for a very tight game.  Excellent quick passing broke down their defence to score the only goal of the final.  We won the trophy for this inaugural competition and look forward to defending it next year.

Zac King was awarded joint player of the tournament, showing not only excellent skills but always playing with excellent sportsman like qualities.  All were great ambassadors for Leehurst swan.
