Year 3 Visit Lake House Organic Farm

lake-house

Year 3 pupils at Leehurst Swan were treated to a wonderful educational day at Lake House Organic Farm.  This is a new project for Lake House Organics and they were the first school to take part.

The children learnt about the different animals and the food crops and the importance of organic farming.  It really helped to put them back in touch with where our food comes from.  They also learnt about the benefits of renewable energy sources and marvelled at the solar powered water heaters.

Lake House supplied a delicious organic lunch using their own produce and the children agreed it was far tastier than ordinary food.  It was an excellent experience for pupils and teachers.

Match Report - Yr 6 & 7 Cricket v Moyles Court

cricketYear 6 & 7 team went down to the Close to face Moyles Court in the first home match of the season.  Conditions were perfect and the team looked fantastic in their new kit kindly sponsored by The Fireplace Design Company.  Leehurst won the toss and decided to bat first. The openers quickly settled in and started to attack the Moyles Court bowlers with relish, scoring at a steady 4 runs an over and not really looking in danger from the bowlers.  Indeed any wickets which fell were as a result of careless shots rather than good bowling.  Leehurst continued to score steadily and at the end of the innings had score an impressive 78 of 19 overs.
For the second match running Harry Hart got the innings off to a flying start by smashing the opening batsmens stumps with his first ball of the innings, and is on course for what must be a rare hat trick in deed!  The Moyles Court batsmen never got on top of the bowlers and wickets fell steadily, to the bowling, catches being held and run outs when the batsmen tried to move the score along.  Moyles Court were bowled out for 18 allowing Leehurst to record their second very strong win of the season. Long may it continue!
